Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

To determine the toxicity of the substance to aquatic invertebrates, an acute toxicity studys with Daphnia magna was performed which was run under GLP according to EPA OPP 72-2 with flow-through conditions (GAF Chemicals Corp., 1991; report no. 164A-101A). The tst concentrations were analytically verified. Here, the 48 -h EC50 was 7.59 mg/l based on mean measured concentrations.

This result is supported by a GLP study following EU method C.2 using Daphnia magna (BASF AG, 1992; report no. 91/1784/50/1) . The animals were exposed under static conditions. Although analytical verifiying of the test item took place no recalculation of the nominal test concentrations is possible. The 48 -h EC50 was calculated to be 12.2 mg/L (nominal). With high probability, the EC50 value (48 h) falls between 1 mg/L and 10 mg/L. Within the chronic test (see IUCLID Ch. 6.1.4: BASF AG, 2003; report no. 01/0525/51/1), a 21 -d LC0 of 5 mg/l was found.

It can be concluded that NOP is acutely toxic to aquatic invertebrates.
