Description of key information

The 96 hr. LL50 with rainbow trout was > 8,000 mg/L, which was the highest loading rate used to prepare the water accomodated fractions tested.

Additional information

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the acute toxicity of water-accomodated fractions (WAFs) of methylpolyhydroxymethyl stearate to the rainbow trout. The study was conducted using two replicate vessels, each containing five fish, for WAFs prepared at each of six test substance loading rates of0 (water control), 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, and 8000 mg/L.

No mortality was observed in the controls and in any of the WAFs. Based on the results of the study, the 96 hour LL50to rainbow trout is > 8,000 mg/l (nominal methyl polyhydroxymethyl stearate loading rate).

Based on the nominal methyl polyhydroxymethyl stearate loading rates:                                

- The 24-, 48-, 72-, and 96-hour lethal loading rate 50thcentile (LL50) values were all greater than 8000 mg/L, which was the highest loading rate tested The 96-hour no-observed effect loading ate (NOELR) was ≥ 8000 mg/L.

- The 96-hour no-observed effect loading ate (NOELR) was ≥ 8000 mg/L.
