Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The vapour pressure of a commercial sample of Alcohols, C12-15, branched and linear is <0.5 Pa at 20°C, 0.9 Pa at 50°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
0.9 Pa
at the temperature of:
50 °C

Additional information

The vapour pressure values of <0.5 Pa at 20°C and 0.9 Pa at 50°C were determined for Alcohols, C12-15, branched and linear with the use of a static method in accordance with NFT 20-048. The result is considered to be reliable.

It is supported by a QSAR estimated value of 0.05 Pa at 25°C for the UVCB.

Since the submission substance is a UVCB substance, available literature data for the constituents as discussed below are used for environmental exposure modelling.

Dodecan-1-ol has a reported vapour pressure value of 0.11 Pa at 25°C; tetradecan-1-ol has a reported vapour pressure value of 0.3014 Pa at 25°C and pentadecan-1-ol has a reported vapour pressure of 5.1E-03 Pa at 25°C (Daubert and Danner, 1989).

Discussion of trends in the Category of C6-24 linear and essentially-linear aliphatic alcohols:

As chain length increases, vapour pressure decreases. This is because molecular weight is higher and intermolecular forces in the substance are all higher
