Specific details on test material used for the study:
A sample of the test substance was received from Fratelli Lamberti SpA on 11 January 1988, and assigned the Brixham code number R024.
The test substance was a brown vitreous solid. It is made up of a mixture of homologues of the same basic composition, (CI3H1602)n,n<5.

Conclusions:
During the course of this determination gas bubbles were noted to evolve from the substance at 212°C and 261°C. These were initially taken to be boiling points of the lower homologues. However information from the sponsor, in the form of a thermograph, clearly shows no sudden losses/changes at these temperatures. In the light of these findings it must be assumed that bubbles are not evidence of the test substance boiling, but some outgassing of some other component. The boiling point of the test substance is, therefore, >300°C.
