Description of key information

DAA is reported to have a 96 hour LC50 greater than 100 mg/L in freshwater fish. The 48 hour LC50 values reported for freshwater fish from two different laboratories ranged from 8930-12220 mg/L, and the 24-hour TLm is reported to be 360 mg/L. The 48-hour EC50 is reported to be greater than 1000 mg/L, and the 48-hour NOEC was 1000 mg/L, based on immobilization of daphnia magna. The 24-hour EC50 in daphnia ranges from 8750 to 9016 mg/L, while the 24-hour LC50 in daphnia is reported to be 9000 mg/L. Furthermore, the long term 21-day NOEC for the substance in daphnia is reported to be 100 mg/L. The substance exerted effects on cell density and biomass of freshwater algae at concentrations of 1000 mg/L and greater, and 8-day toxicity threshold (TGK) values (growth inhibition) ranged from 530 to 3000 mg/L. The EC50_3h for microorganims was determined to be higher than 1000 mg/L.The substance should therefore not be classified on the basis of absence of toxic effect whatever is the trophic level considered.
