Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Three determinations at each temperature were performed, since the deviations between the first and the second determination were too high (relative standard deviations (RSD) were 6.4 % for the determination at 20°C and 7.6 % for the determination at 40°C).

For the second and the third determination, the measured RSDs were 1.0% for the determination at 20°C and 0.25% for the determination at 40°C.

The second and the third determination were used for evaluation.

Measurements were performed at 20.0 ± 0.04 °C 40.0 ± 0.1 °C respectively.

No observations arousing doubts concerning the accuracy of the results and the validity of

the study were made.

The validity criteria for the balls used were met for both determinations.

Results of the single determinations with the respective standard deviation as well as the mean value and the standard deviation of all six individual experiments are presented in the attached background material (Table 9.2, BYK-LP X 20954 (WS400402) Viscosity.pdf).

Description of key information

The dynamic viscosity was determined at 20°C and 40°C in a GLP study according to OECD 114 using a rolling ball viscometer (covered by DIN 53015). Results were 45326.645 mPa · s at 20°C and 4516.652 mPa · s at 40°C.
