Details on test conditions:
- Test vessels: 5 liters, all-glass
- Test medium: ISO-medium, aerated until the dissolved oxygen concentration had reached saturation and the pH had stabilized.
- Number of fish: 7 fish exposed to 100 mg/L and teh controls. 3 fish exposed to 0.1, 1.0, and 10 mg/l.
- Loading: 0.4-0.6 g fish/liter, i.e. 3 fish per 2 litres or 7 fish per 3 litres of test medium.
- Illumination: 16 hours photoperiod daily
- Aeration: The test media were not aerated during the test
- Feeding: No feeding from 24 hours prior to the test and during the total test period.
- Introduction of fish: Directly after preparation of the test media.
- Euthanasia: At the end of the test the surviving fish were rapidly killed by exposing them to ca. 1.2% ethylene glycol monophenylether in water.

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Under the study conditions, the nominal 96h-LC50 was >100 mg/L.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the acute toxicity of the test substance, trichloro(N,N-dimethyloctylamine) boron, to Cyprinus carpio according to OECD Guideline 203 and EU Method C.1 without GLP. The definitive test was performed with carp exposed to concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 100 mg/L in a static system. Acetone was used as a solvent in the stock solution. The nominal 96 h LC50 was >100 mg/L. The maximum solubility was estimated to be between 10 and 100 mg/L. Hence, the testing of concentrations greater than 100 mg/L was not considered to be relevant. No analytical dose verification was conducted. Under the study conditions, the nominal 96 h LC50 was determined to be 100 mg/L (Bogers, 1996).
