Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Half life period of 2-(2-chloroethoxy)ethanol in water was observed to be 15 days while in sediment it is 140 days.Based on these half life values it is concluded that 2-(2-chloroethoxy)ethanol is readily biodegradable (non persistent) in water where as it is non biodegradable (persistent) in sediment. However it can be observed that 2-(2-chloroethoxy)ethanol does not diffuse in the sediment medium since its percentage in the sediment medium is reported to be 0% and hence persistence in the sediment medium is not likely to be critical

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in freshwater:
15 d
Half-life in freshwater sediment:
140 d

Additional information
