Description of key information

The surface tension of a solution of laurylimidazole at 20 mg/L in water at 20 °C is 45.0 mN/m. Laurylimidazole is considered to be surface active.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The surface tension was determined according to OECD 115 harmonized ring method and EU Method A.5. This study was conducted in accordance with GLP standards and is classified as reliable without restrictions. In a supporting study, the surface tension of a ca. 50 mg/L solution of laurylimidazole is between 30.86 and 58.32 mN/m. The supporting study was performed using the Wilhelmy Plate method and an automated tensiometer. The supporting study was not GLP compliant and no temperature was recorded. Therefore, the key study is the preferred value.
