Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Parent compound: no data. With the analogous compound isopropyl chloroformate, the key study comes from a respiration inhibition test performed similar to OECD TG 209 (BASF AG, 1983). It was conducted as a limit test with two control batches and one test batch. No inhibitory effects on activated sludge respiration were observed. The EC0 was 2527 mg/L. The study is regarded to also cover possible effects from the hydrolysis products isopropanol and HCl.

Hydrolysis product sec-butanol: Pseudomonas putida test 16 -h EC0 = ca. 500 mg/L (OECD, 2002)
