Details on results:
- Calcium hydrogenorthophosphate was insoluble in the OECD culture medium and therefore the concentration of the test substance was detected to be significantly low during the test. The measured concentrations of the test substance were 0.3, 0.4, 0.3, 0.8, 1.7 and 4.4 mg/L (nominal concnetrations: 0.3, 1.0, 3.1, 9.8, 31.3, and 100 mg/L). At 72 h, the test substance in the test solution was not detected at 0.3, 1.0 and 3.1 mg/L (nominal), but its concentrations at 9.8, 31.3 and 100 mg/l (nominal) were estimated to be 0.3, 1.6 and 4.7 mg/L.
Reported statistics and error estimates:
Statistical analysis was not performed, since less than 50% of growth inhibition at 100 mg/L (nominal) was observed in the test and therefore, the EC50 values were expressed as above the test concentration.

Algal cells were observed to maintain a similar shape to the control in all test solutions, and microorganisms other than algae were not observed.

The growth curves for cell density measured in triplicate every 24 hour in each concentration of the tests substance are shown in the graph attached.

The 72 h EC50 was estimated to be > 100 mg/L (measured concentration: > 4.4 mg/L) using the average specific growth rate and yield.

Validity criteria fulfilled:
not specified
Conclusions:
The 72h-EC50 of calcium hydrogenorthophosphate in Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was found to be higher than 100 mg/L (nominal) and the NOEC was determined to be 100 mg/L, both based on growth rate.
Executive summary:

A freshwater algae growth inhibition test was performed on calcium hydrogenorthophosphate according to OECD Guideline 201, following GLP. A range finding study performed at concentrations of 0.1, 1, 10 and 100 mg/L test item and no toxicity was observed at the maximum dose. Therefore, the definitive test was performed exposing Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata to the nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 0.3, 1, 3.1, 9.8, 31.3 and 100 mg/L for 72 hours. The analysis of the test substance in the test solution was performed at the beginning (0 h) and at the end of the test (72 h) using inductively coupled plasma (ICP). The 72h-EC50 of test item in Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was found to be higher than 100 mg/L(nominal) and the NOEC was determined to be 100 mg/L, both based on growth rate.
