Description of key information

The availabe data are in general agreement, leading to the conclusion that the 1,1,2-trichloroethane is stable at pH = 7 and at 20 or 25°C.

Additional information

One report is a brief summary of a test conducted according to OECD Guideline 111 reported by Japanese authorities (UNEP, 2000).

The substance is reported to be stable (T0.5 > 1 year) at 25°C and pH 4 and 7. The half life is reported to be 85 days at ph 9.

The substance stability was confirmed by a review publication (Vogel et al., 1987), in which the half-life was reported to be 170 years at 20°C and pH7 and by the HYDROWIN calculation model (EPI suite) which estimated halflifes for 1,1,2-trichloroethane of 1171 and 11705 years at pH 8 and 7 respectively.
