Description of key information

The tests for three trophic levels were performed:

LC50 (96 h), fish                                77.3 mg/L (nominal)

EC50 (48 h), invertebrates              >100 mg/L (nominal)

ErC50 (72 h), alga                             37.15 mg/L(geom. mean)

NOECr (72 h), alga                             < 7.8 mg/L (geom. mean)

EC50 (3 h), act. sludge                      > 1000 mg/L (nominal)

Conclusion on C&L

C&L is based on data from short-term tests for fish, invertebrates and algae. Based on study results Acid Black 26 is not ready biodegradable and algae Desmodesmus subspicatus is the most sensitive species tested with this compound – ErC50(72 h) is 37.15 mg/L. These experimental results led to classification Aquatic Chronic 3, H412.

Conclusion on CSA - PNEC derivation

Results of acute study (72-h test for algae) for Acid Black 26 are used for derivation PNEC. Key value for CSA: ErC50(72 h) = 37.15 mg/L.
