Additional information

The genotoxicity of nickel carbonate and -hydroxide has been less extensively studied than nickel sulphate or nickel chloride. However the limited data available are very similar to the results seen with the other nickel compounds. Since the possibility that germ cells are affected by nickel carbonate hydroxide cannot be excluded the C&L health effects group has agreed to classify nickel carbonate and -hydroxide as Muta. Cat.3; R68 (GHS: Muta. Cat. 2) (EU C&L Dossier and the OECD SIDS draft 2007).

Short description of key information:
Nickel carbonate hydroxide is classified according to Annex I to Directive 67/548/EEC with Xn / Muta. Cat. 3 / R68.
