Additional information

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI a study on adsorption / desorption does not to be conducted, as based on the physico-chemical properties and its extremely low water solubility, the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption. Iron is an essential element for humans, animals, plants and microorganisms.

The small fraction that will go into solution, will not be present as Iron (II)oxide itself upon dissolution, but as different speciation forms of its individual components (inorganic forms of iron). As a consequence, Iron(II)oxide potential for adsorption as such is not relevant and the test does not need to be conducted.
