Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with column 1 of REACH Annex IX, information is not required, as the stability of the substance is considered to be not critical. Iron Oxide and Iron(III)Oxide are used for read across to determine that the stability of Iron(II)Oxide is not crititcal too. Furthermore, based on experience in handling, FeO is known to be stable at room temperature: FeO used in the slag-FeO production is produced in liquid form at about 1100°C and then cooled slowly to solidification at ambient air (in presence of oxygen). Phases presented at the solidified form are assumed to be at equilibrium during the whole temperature range and no self heating properties are expected when the slag is heated above 400°C, in the presence of oxygen.
