Additional information

Due to rapid hydrolysis, 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoyl chloride will not be present in the environment for a significant time. Therefore, the fate in the environment is mainly based on the hydrolysis product 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoic acid.

Adsorption/desorption

Regarding the charged molecule at pH 7, the log Koc of 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoic acid was estimated to be 1.99 (Koc = 97 L/kg) following the method of Franco & Trapp (2008, 2009, 2010) (BASF SE, 2021).

Referring to the charged molecule at pH 7, the substance is not expected to adsorb to the solid soil phase

Henry´s Law Constant

The HLC for 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoic acid was estimated to be 0.408 Pa*m3/mol at 25°C (BASF SE, 2021), indicating that no volatilization from water surfaces into the atmosphere is expected.
