Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

137.9 ± 0.4°C, OECD 102, capillary method with photocell, Das 2003
137.8 ± 2.4°C, statistical average of literature references

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
137.8 °C

Additional information

A survey of 22 unique literature references for the melting point was made from the CAS Registry Experimental Properties database and Reaxys (see literature search). Patents were discarded. The arithmetic mean was used where ranges were reported. The arithmetic mean and standard deviation for the dataset were calculated as 137.8 ± 2.4°C. As no values fell outside ±3 e.s.d., this was considered to be a reasonable dataset and representative value for the melting point.

An OECD guideline 102 study conducted under GLP was available. A melting point of 137.9±0.4°C was reported, in very good agreement with the statistical average of reported literature values.

The value reported by Das is considered to be relevant, adequate, and reliable for risk assessment purposes; the endpoint is complete.
