Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

1. Preliminary test

Experimental conditions

Humidity About 48%

Room temperature About 26 °C

Atmospheric pressure 98.3 kPa

Assay No. 1

The test item blackened and glowed red. Neither inflammation, nor propagation was observed.

Assay No.2

The same observations as for the assay No. 1 were recorded. S

2. Main test

Taking into account the results obtained during the preliminary test, no main test was performed.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test item was not considered as highly flammable under the experimental conditions.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test item, sulfates of potassium, sodium and calcium by-product from fermentation, was carried out according to the EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids)) and under GLP.

The test item was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train about 250-mm long. In a preliminary screening test a hot flame from a gas burner (minimum diameter 5 mm) was applied to one end of the powder train until ignition or for a maximum of 2 min. The test item blackened and glowed red. Neither inflammation, nor propagation was observed in the two assays performed.

Since the test item does not ignite and propagate combustion (either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train) within the 4-min test period, the test item was not considered as highly flammable and no further testing is performed.

The test item, sulfates of potassium, sodium and calcium by-product from fermentation, is not highly flammable under the experimental conditions.
