Additional information

Hydrolysis is expected to contribute significantly to the overall degradation of ethoxy(trimethyl)silane (CAS 1825-62-3) in aquatic systems. The half-life at 25 °C and pH 7 is 2.2 min. Due to volatility of ethoxy(trimethyl)silane and its silanol hydrolysis product (118 hPa and 19 hPa, respectively), the substance tends to enter the atmospheric compartment. Therefore, indirect photodegradation is a potential pathway for degradation of the substance and its silanol hydrolysis product. However, the DT50 of 4.1 days for photolysis in air of the silanol hydrolysis product shows that the degradation via this pathway is rather low.
