Results and discussion

Relative self-ignition temperature (solids)

Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point
Remarks:
The test item showed no self-ignition up to the melting range of 250 – 256 °C.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The auto-ignition temperature was determined in a GLP guideline study according to EU method A.16 without deviations on the registered substance itself. Hence, there is no indication given that the results are not reliable. No increase in the temperature of the sample in comparison to that of the oven could be detected; also no signs of ignition could be observed.
The test item Sulfobetaines, coco alkyldimethyl(3-sulfopropyl) is stated as “showing no self-ignition up to the melting range of 250 – 256 °C” under the test conditions.
No observations were made which might cause doubts concerning the validity of the study outcome.
Executive summary:

The auto-ignition temperature was determined in a GLP guideline study according to EU method A.16. The auto-flammability behaviour was determined by placing the test item into a stainless steel cube and heating from room temperature to an oven temperature of 261.8 °C with the ZPA-3 oven.

No increase in the temperature of the sample in comparison to that of the oven could be detected, also no signs of ignition could be observed.

Therefore, the test item Sulfobetaines, coco alkyldimethyl(3-sulfopropyl) is stated as “showing no self-ignition up to the melting range of 250 – 256 °C” under the test conditions.
