Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
Justification for type of information:
The decomposition energy of the substance is less than 500J/g as determined by DSC-Measurement. See further information in the cross-ref.
Cross-reference
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Reference
Endpoint:
thermal stability

Key result
Operating temp.:
>= 220 - <= 290 °C
Remarks on result:
other: exothermic effect
Sublimation:
not determined
Transformation products:
not specified

In the temperature range of 220 – 290 °C, an exothermic effect can be observed, with an average decomposition energy of -50 J/g. No further thermic effects could be detected. At approx. 420 °C the pressure in the crucibles started to raise.

Conclusions:
The test item Imidazolium compounds, 2-C4-8-alkyl-1-(2-carboxyethyl)-4,5-dihydro-3-(hydroxyethyl), hydroxides, sodium salts (CAS no. 70983-43-6) showed one exothermic effect in the temperature range of 220 – 290 °C, with a decomposition energy of -50 J/g.
Executive summary:

The test item Imidazolium compounds, 2-C4-8-alkyl-1-(2-carboxyethyl)-4,5-dihydro-3-(hydroxyethyl), hydroxides, sodium salts (CAS no.70983-43-6) showed one exothermic effect in the temperature range of 220 – 290 °C, with a decomposition energy of -50 J/g.
