Preliminary Test

The test item was put into the capillary tube, fused at one end, so that the filling level was approximately 5 to 10 mm. Then the filled capillary tube was placed into the metal heating block of the instrument. The test was started at 30 °C. The heating rate was 5 K/min. A fresh sample was prepared for each measurement. A boiling point capillary was inserted into the liquid (e.g. after melting) test item. To get information about the approximate boiling point the metal heating block was heated at a rate of 5 K/min. During heating the test item and the temperature were monitored by the appliance so that the approximate boiling point could be determined. The current air pressure was read from the barometer and entered into the boiling point apparatus to obtain correct results. On this basis the boiling point was calculated by the apparatus automatically.

 Main Test

As the test item started to decompose at 270 °C, no boiling point could be determined. No main test was performed.

Conclusions:
The test was carried out according to OECD guideline 103 and EC method A.2. No boiling point could be observed as the test item started to decompose at a temperature of about 270 °C.
Executive summary:

The test was carried out according to OECD guideline 103 and EC method A.2. No boiling point could be observed as the test item started to decompose at a temperature of about 270 °C. Some bubbles were observed from about 270 °C on. The test item began to change its color at about 250 °C to yellowish turbid. This behavior of the test item leads to the conclusion that the test item decomposes and has no boiling point.

Description of key information

The test was carried out according to OECD guideline 103 and EC method A.2. No boiling point could be observed as the test item started to decompose at a temperature of about 270 °C.
