Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Experimental studies, equivalent or similar to international guidelines, are available to assess the aquatic toxicity of the registered substance (BPAF).
Among all data available, toxic effects were observed on the three aquatic trophic levels (aquatic invertebrates, algae, fish), in both acute and chronic conditions.
In acute conditions, the most sensitive species is the aquatic invertebrates, Daphnia magna, with a EC50 value at 2.7 mg/L. For the zebrafish Danio rerio, the LC50 value was determined at 4.2 mg/L and for the algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, the ErC50 value was measured at 3.0 mg/L. In chronic conditions, the lowest NOEC value was reported at 0.052 mg/L for the algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. For the aquatic invertebrates, Daphnia magna, the lowest NOEC was determined at 0.23 mg/L and for the zebrafish, Danio rerio, the NOEC was greater than or equal to 0.125 mg/L.
Regarding toxicity to microorganisms, the effect of BPAF on the respiration of activated sewage sludge gave EC10 and EC50 values measured at 47.87 mg/L and 126.8 mg/L, respectively.
All results were based on nominal concentrations. Although analytical monitoring was not performed in all the studies, the registered substance has a half-life in water of 180 days and it was verified during the algae study conducted by DuPont (2007) and the chronic Daphnia magna study conducted by Tisler et al. (2016) that BPAF was stable in environmental matrices for up to 3 days.
