PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride is rapidly and completely hydrolysed in water to form trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. Therefore, it is scientifically relevant to use the PBT assessment of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (source substance) for the assessment of trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride (target substance) in a frame of a read-across approach. The entire justification of the read-across approach is available in the attached document.

Trifluoromethanesulfonic acid fulfils the screening criteria for persistent substances. However, the data indicate that it is neither fulfilling the criterion for toxic substances, the criteria for bioaccumulative (PBT-substances), nor the criteria for very bioaccumulative substances (vPvB-substances).
