EC number: 614-626-2
CAS number: 685853-81-0
In an unpublished study reported in this review article, the acute
toxicity of chromium nitrate to Daphnia magna at 5 water hardnesses was
measured and the 48-hr EC50 ranged from 16.8 mg chromium/L in soft water
to 57.8 mg chromium/L in hard water.
In considering the relative low toxicity of the citrate ion, the
toxicity of the substance is considered to be directly in relation to
the chromium III ions.
The EC50 of Cr 3+ is considered to be 16.8 mg/l, which relates to ca 77
mg/l expressed as chromium citrate.
