Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No toxicokinetic data is available on either the target substance or the source substance.

As no specific data for the absorption rate from the oral, the dermal or the inhalational route of exposure is available, default assumption will be applied. Thus, absorption from the dermal and the oral route is considered to be the same. For extrapolation from oral exposure to inhalation exposure the absorption by inhalation is assumed to be a factor 2 higher.

No data is available on either the target substance or the source substance.

Non-specific esterase activity in the gastrointestinal tract (including from gastrointestinal microorganisms) and in liver and plasma may result in hydrolysis of 2-phenoxyethyl methacrylate into 2-phenoxyethanol and methacrylate/ methacrylic acid. No specific data as to the extent and rate of this type of metabolism is available but it may be anticipated that the unspecific esterase activity may be rather similar for the target as well as for the source substance (2 -phenoxyethyl acrylate) from which read-across in relation to toxicity is made.

See read-across justification attached in section 13

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Bioaccumulation potential:
low bioaccumulation potential
Absorption rate - oral (%):
50
Absorption rate - dermal (%):
50
Absorption rate - inhalation (%):
100

Additional information

Based on read-across the structure of 2-phenoxyethyl acrylate, no/low bioaccumulation is expected for 2 -phenoxyethyl methacrylate.
