Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The log partition coefficients for substances in the category Rosin, hydrogenated rosin and their salts range from 0.74 to >6.5.

The mean log partition coefficient of Hydrogenated rosin is 2.3 to >6 (8.3) in unbuffered solution, and 2.5 to >6 (7.6) in media adjusted to pH 2. A supporting study determined a partition coefficient of 3.42 at pH 4.15 - 4.57.

Additional information

GLP-compliant key and supprting studies conducted according to OECD Guideline 117 (HPLC method) and EU Method A.8 (shake-flask method) were provided for Rosin, hydrogenated (Inveresk Research, 2003a; Chilworth Technology, 2010a).

The wide range of partition coefficient values for Rosin, hydrogenated is due to the chemical structures of the substances, as they are composed of ionisable organic acids. These substances are UVCB mixtures and therefore can exhibit more than one peak and log Kow value.
