Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Any other information on results incl. tables

The sample was used as it is without any grinding or any other manipulation.

Cellulose was dried in an oven at 105° at ambient pressure for 16 hrs.

The ignition source was a flame from a gas burner.

A preliminary test was performed. Since the cone generated a vigorous reaction, the train test was carried out.

Several mistures of the prduct and cellulose were prepared (see table). The product burns with a vigorous flame emitting a black smoke.

Product % w/w  Cellulose % w/w  Burning rate 20 cm in  Complete combustion (external)
 70  30  90''  180''
 50  50  60''  180''
 30  70  60''  150''
 10  90  330''  390''

A blank was performed by mixing 50% of Ba(NO3)2 and 50% of cellulose: the burning rate of this mixture is much slower than that of Cyclopirox olamine hence cyclopirox olamine must be considered an oxidizing substance.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
Category 1 (strong oxidising solids) based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Ciclopirox olamine is considered as oxidizing.
