Description of key information

FEXO-03 was found not to be biodegradable under the conditions of the test within 28 days. In the toxicity control, containing both FEXO-03 and the reference item sodium benzoate, no inhibitory effect on the biodegradation of the reference item was determined.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

The test item FEXO-03 was investigated for its ready biodegradability in a manometric respirometry test over 28 days based on EU Commission Directive 92/69 EEC, C.4-D (1992) and OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 301 F (1992). The test was extended for one day beyond the usual test period of 28 days for practical reasons.

The biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of the test item FEXO-03 in the test media was in the range of the inoculum control values during the test period.
