The log Pow of ZAN 573 is experimentally estimated to be < 0.9, although the substance eluted from the HPLC column before the standards. It can be reasonably ascertained that the log P is significantly below critical high values such as 3.5. The difficulty in obtaining a precise value does not hinder the determination of the hazard of the substance. Like other cyclic anhydrides, it is not expected to be bioaccumulative, nor to have significant transport, sedimentation or adsorption to particles (WHO, 2009).
