Description of key information

FAT 20290/C is a dark blue colored powder at 20 °C. When tested according to OECD Guideline 102 for melting point and OECD Guideline 103 for boiling point determination the substance did not melt or boil until 350 °C. The average relative density of FAT 20290/C was found to be 1.3493 g/cm³ at 20 °C. The median particle size (L50) of FAT 20290/C was 49.468 µm, whereas L10 and L90 were 12.681 µm and 147.755 µm, respectively. The partition coefficient n-octanol/water of FAT 20290/C at 20 °C was determined to be -5.62(log Pow). The water solubility of FAT 20290/C at 20 °C was determined to be 302 g/l. The surface tension of FAT 20290/C was determined to be 53.484 mN/m at 20 °C. Because the substance is a solid, a flash point was not determined. FAT 20290/C showed no auto-ignition up to 550 °C and the substance is considered not to be highly flammable and does not ignite spontaneously when in contact with water or humid air. The substance is considered to be non-explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and no further testing is required. In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study for determination of oxidising properties does not need to be conducted as this substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of its chemical structure.
