Description of key information

Dissociation constants (pKa) are: pKa1 = 9.63, pKa2 = 8.51, pKa3 = ~4.3 at 20°C and 0.0 M ionic strength

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Aminoethylpiperazine possesses three ionizable amino groups. The primary amino group has measured pKa1 = 9.63, the secondarary amino group has measured pKa2 = 8.51, and the tertiary amino group has estimated pKa3 = 4.3 at 20 °C. The pKa3 value could not be measured, but is estimated using the ACD pKa DB software v5.12. These estimated and measured pKa values for aminoethylpiperazine agree within 0.48 log units.
