Description of key information

Read across from Alcamizer 5 (EC no: 422-150-1): Magnesium aluminium hydroxide carbonate is non flammable upon contact with a flame.
Additionally, based on the molecular structure information the test substance does not contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with water and/or to the evolution of a flammable gas. Furthermore, the test substance does not contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with air. Therfore it is concluded that Magnesium aluminium hydroxide carbonate is non flammable in contact with water and has no pryrophoric properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data and the evaluation of the structural features of Magnesium aluminium hydroxide carbonate it is concluded that the substance is non flammable. It therefore does not need to be classified for as flammable and/or pyrophoric solid according to the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
