The CMC was determined from the CMC curve by solving the two equations. The CMC for test substance determined to be 2.3 mg/L at pH 7.0. The operating temperature was room temperature, in this case 23°C. Also, the surface tension at 0.2 g/L solution has been determined to 28 mN/m. However, it should be noted that although the sample was not completely water soluble. Therefore, solid particles might have had an impact on the cmc value. Hence, it is important to realize that not all of the surfactant was present as monomers during the cmc determination.

Under the study conditions, the water solubility as CMC for the test substance was determined to be 2.3 mg/L (Ulama & Anderson, 2010).
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the water solubility as CMC of test substance, C12-18 DAQ (99.6% active), according to the OECD guideline 115 and ISO 304 method using an automated tensiometer. The CMC was determined to be 2.3 mg/L at 23 °C. Also, the surface tension at 0.2 g/L was been determined to be 28 mN/m. However, it should be noted that although the sample was not completely water soluble and hence solid particles might have had an impact on the CMC value. The test substance was determined to be not completely water soluble. Under the study conditions, the water solubility as CMC for the test substance was determined to be 2.3 mg/L (Ulama & Anderson, 2010).
