Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Inhalation : Remove to fresh air.  Give oxygen and get medical attention for breathing difficulty.

Eyes: If material gets into eye, wash immediately with copious amounts of water for at least fifteen (15) minutes.

Skin: Flush skin with copious amounts of running water for at least fifteen (15) minutes.  If irritation develops after washing, get medical attention.  Wash exposed areas, hands, face, etc. before going home, eating, and smoking.

Ingestion: If small amounts have been swallowed, rinse mouth out.  If larger amounts have been ingested get medical attention.

In case of exposure, immediately call a doctor.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable Extinguishing Media: Any standard extinguishing medium, including water.

Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: NA

Special Exposure Hazards: This material will auto ignite at temperatures approximately 370°F (188°C).

Products of Combustion: Can produce toxic effluents of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, ammonia, copper fume, and cyanide.

Protection of Firefighters: Fight surrounding fire at a distance until material has burned

Special Protective Equipment for Firefighters: NA

Accidental release measures

Personal Precautions: Use personal protective equipment approved by a HS&E professional.

Environmental Precautions: NA

Methods For Containment and Clean-up: Contain the material and clean up with non-sparking tools.  Avoid spark, static electricity, and open flame.  Avoid raising dust and ventilate area.  Wash spill site with water after material pick-up is complete.  Follow all current and applicable laws and regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid spark, ESD, impact, friction and open flame.  Avoid dusting.

Storage: Store in an air tight container.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Respiratory Protection: Adequately designed closed system (under negative pressure) or if not techically possible local exhaust systems are the first choice for employee protection.  As a short-term fix, personal protective equipment, including appropriate respirators must be used until engineering controls are installed and verified as effective, by a qualified Industrial Hygienist or equivalent.

Eye Protection: Use safety goggles.  Protect skin around the eyes.  If material gets into eye, wash immediately with copious amounts of water for 15 minutes.

Skin Protection: Wear chemical resistant gloves.  Use skin barrier creams and adequate PPE to protect the skin from contact.

General Hygiene Responsibilities: Use good personal hygiene at all times.

Stability and reactivity

Stability: CuGUN hydrolyzes to form copper hydroxide and guanylurea nitrate.  The copper hydroxide can be hydrolyzed to CuO + H2O.  Both the Cu(OH)2 and CuO are insoluble so the CuGUN is measured by the amount of soluble copper by atomic emission inductively coupled plasma (ICP)

Conditions To Avoid: Sparks, static electricity, open flame and hot temperatures.
