Description of key information

The estimated lethal dose concentration of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one for Lepomis macrochirus for 96 hours using QSAR toolbox version 2.3 is 15.18 mg/l. But the BCF value of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one reported was not >= 2000 as well as the substance was found to be rapidly degradable.

Thus considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance, it is concluded that 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl) ethan-1-one does not exhibit short term toxicity to fish

Additional information

Based on the various studies available with Klimish rating 2 and 4 for the target substance CAS NO 39004506 and read across substances and based on the category approach of organic functional group along with similar mechanistic approach and having structural similarities defined by QSAR toolbox. The results is summarized as follows

By applying weight of evidence approach to the studies summarized in the above table it can be observed that the LC50 values was found to be in range of 5.21 to42.9921mg/l in 96 hrs and 48 hrs and the EC50 value was found to be 14.9 mg/l in 24 hrs on the basis of mortality effect . But the BCF value of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one reported was not >= 2000 as well as the substance was found to be rapidly degradable. Thus considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance,, it is concluded that 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl) ethan-1-one does not exhibit short term toxicity to fish (Lepomis macrochirus,Oncorhynchus mykiss and Pimephales promelas)
