Final Results – Oxidation Reduction Properties

The test substance was found to be non-reactive with ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, metallic iron or aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution (10 % w/w) in terms of significant temperature increase or evolution of gas. Oxidation of the test substance with a 0.1 N solution of potassium permanganate occurred with slight gas evolution during the first 15 minutes of the experiment. No significant temperature increase was observed for all applied test mixtures, i.e. the temperature increase was clearly below 5 °C in the course of the experiments and never exceeded ambient conditions.

Individual Results

The temperature of all test mixtures did not significantly vary in the course of the experiments and never exceeded ambient conditions, i.e. the temperature increase was clearly below 5 °C. The observed temperatures are listed in the table below.

Description of key information

The test substance was shown to be a very mild reducing agent in the presence of 0.1 N aqueous potassium permanganate (slight gas evolution, but no significant temperature increase) (OPPTS 830.6314).
