Results mass based distribution:

First sieving over a 2 mm sieve

- The resulting material (11.36 % < 2 mm of the total sample) was then sieved over a 1 mm sieve.

- The resulting material (2.91 % < 1 mm of the entire sample) was then sieved over a 500 µm sieve.

Results from volumetric distribution ISO13320:

From the fraction smaller than 500 µm (1.21 % < 500 µm of the total sample), a dry particle size distribution was performed by laser diffraction (Malvern mastersizer 3000).

Name Dispersing medium: Dry dispersion

Refractive index dispersing medium: 1.000

Fraunhofer scattering model

Analysis Mode: Universal

Weighted variance: 0.33

Laser shadowing: 0.46 %

Concentration: 0.0054 %

Width: 3.710

Uniformity: 1.352

Specific surface: 65.08 mL/kg

Diameter (D) [3:2]: 92.198 µm

D [4:3]: 258.586 µm

Dv (10): 43.756 µm

Dv (50): 137.638 µm

Dv (90): 554.336 µm

The distribution is volume related, i.e. a Dv (50) means that 50% of the particles have a diameter < 137.6 µm and 50% of the particles have a diameter > 137.6 µm.

Conclusions:
Results from the hand sieve:
-       88.64 % of the particles are above 2 mm
-       8.45 % are above 1 mm and below 2 mm
-       1.71 % are above 0.5 mm and below 1 mm
-       1.21 % are below 0.5 mm

From the fraction smaller than 500 µm (1.21 % < 500 µm of the total sample) a volume related particle size distribution was recorded:
Dv (10): 43.756 µm
Dv (50): 137.638 µm
Dv (90): 554.336 µm (hand sieve error)
Executive summary:
