The substance has no pyrophoric properties and does not liberate flammable gases in contact with water.
The substance is not a self-heating substance or mixture.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

Based on the flash point of < 1 °C the substance is classified as a highly flammable liquid.

Based on Test A12, Directive 84/449/EEC and on structure the test substance does not evolve gas on contact wíth water .

Based on Test A13, Directive 84/449/EEC and on structure the test substance is not pyrophoric .

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as self-heating as the substance is a liquid.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008:

Based on the chemical structure and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the sixth time in Regulation (EC) No 605/2014., the substance is not considered to be classified as flammable in contact with water, pyrophoric or self heating substance.

The following classification criteria are met for th epure substance and for the aqueous solution:

R11 (highly flammable) of EU Directive 67/548/EEC:  flash point <= 21 °C and initial boiling point > 35 °C;

Flammable liquids, Category 2 (highly flammable liquids and vapour) of EU CLP: flash point <= 23 °C and initial boiling point > 35 °C
