Description of key information

The lethal concentration (LC50) value of difluoroacetic acid in aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia magna) in a 48 hr study on the basis of mortality effect was found to be 235.793 mg/L. Based on this prediction it can be infered that the target chemical is non toxic to aquatic environment.

Predicted data from ECOSAR

By applying weight of evidence approach to the test substance difluoroacetic acid, the endpoint value was found to LC50 = 235.79 mg/L & 21767.93 mg/L in a 48 hrs. to 48 hrs. study on the basis of mortality effect. The BCF value of difluoroacetic acid reported was not >= 500 as well as the substance was found to be rapidly degradable
