Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable but failing 10-day window

Additional information

Two studies investigating the ready biodegradability of the test substance are currently available. In a GLP-compliant study according to OECD 301C 49% of the test substance were degraded after a test duration of 28 days. The analytical monitoring confirmed that the test substance was not mineralized but primarily degraded (BASF Japan 09G09731/11X602, 2013). In a second study, the biodegradation of the test substance after a test duration of 28 days was measured to be 60 to 70% based on CO2 evolution in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 301B (BASF SE 22G0731/11G124, 2012). However, the 10d window was failed in this experiment. Therefore, the test substance is not considered to be “readily biodegradable” but “biodegradable” instead.
