Individual Results - Flammability (solids)
The test item could not be ignited with a flame, the test item melted. The main test is unnecessary because the test item could not be ignited.
Final Results - Flammability (solids)
The test item is not a readily combustible solid in the sense of the consolidated version of Guideline 67/548/EEC Annex V, Method A.10.
Individual results
For the test in the 10 cm cube at an oven temperature of 140 °C ± 2 °C an amount of 801.3 g of the test item was filled in the sample container. The test item temperature reached the oven temperature after approximately 9 hours. No exothermal effect was observed until the end of the test. Due to an exothermal temperature rise <60 K the result was evaluated as negative. After the measurement, the mesh wire basket contained approximately 0.5 wt% less test item than at the start. The remaining test item was visually unchanged.
Final result
For the classification the test item was tested according to division 4.2 (self-heating substances) according to the UN test N.4, described in the "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods: Manual of Tests and Criteria", 6th revised edition 2015. Due to the fact that a negative result was obtained in the test using a 10 cm sample cube at 140 °C the test item has not to be classified in division 4.2 (self-heating substances) in the sense of UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Method N.4. Due to the fact that a negative result was obtained in the test using a 10 cm sample cube at 140 °C the test item has not to be classified as "self-heating substance" according to chapter 2.11 of the GHS (CLP) regulations.
Description of key information
No ignition in the preliminary burning rate test (EU Method A.10).
Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected.
The substance does not need to be considered for classification as self-heating since the Bowes-Cameron Cage Test showed a negative result (UN Test N.4).
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- not classified
Additional information
Justification for classification or non-classification
The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:
No ignition in a test according EU Method A.10.
Based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected. Based on the results from UN Test N.4, the substance is not self-heating.
