The determined average value of deionised water surface tension is: 71.45 ± 0.06 mN/m. The calibration factor Φb calculated from equation:

Φb=72.75/71.45=1.02

The average value : 70.90 ± 0.07 mN/m.

No distinct dependence of measured values on the surface tension during the transfer time was observed.

The measured surface tension value should be corrected by multiplying by the calibration factor

Φb= = 1.02 (calculated before).

Preliminary corrected value

Φb* 70.90 = 1.02*70.90 = 72.32 mN/m

On the base of the polynomial equation the finally corrected value of test item surface tension is:

σ = -1.183 + 0.946 * 72.32+ 9.927 *10-4 * (72.32)2 =72.4 mN/m

Conclusions:
The value of surface tension of the tested material is 72.4 mN/m at 20ºC and concentration of 1 g/L.
Executive summary:

In accordance with OECD guideline 115 and GLP study, the surface tension of tested substance was determineted by OECD harmonised ring method at the constant measurement temperature of 20.0ºC. The aqueous solution of test item (concentration of the test item equals 1 g/L) was prepared. Five measurements were performed in vessel placed onto the table of the tensiometer. Calibration was performed using deionised water and obtained calibration factor was used to calculate finally corrected value of surface tension of tested item. The surface tension value of test item is 72.4 mN/m.
