Additional information

No experimental data for the biodegradation of CAS 27614 -71 -7 are available. Therefore read-across approach was used in order to assess the biodegradation potential of the test item. This read-across approach consists of the experimental data from two structural similar substances. CAS 147-14-8 and CAS 12239-87-1.

Experimental data are available for tetrabenzo-5,10,15,20-diazaporphyrinephthalocyanine (CAS 147-14-8). In a key study conducted similar to OECD guideline 301F (Manometric respirometry test) domestic activated sludge was used as inoculum. A degradation rate of less than 1 % was determined after 28 days (based on O2 consumption, BASF AG, 1988).

This result was supported by a second test accomplished according to OECD guideline 301 C. The substance was degraded by 0 % based on the O2 consumption after 14 days of incubation (NITE, J-CHECK databank, Japan 1992). Additionally, a GLP study conducted according to OECD test guideline 301C is available for the test substance CAS 12239-87-1. In this study the substance was degraded by 5% based on the O2 consumption after 28 days of incubation (NITE, J-CHECK databank, Japan 2003). Both tests were conducted under supervision of the Japanese Ministry of the Environment. These studies were performed with a mixture of sewage, soil and natural water as inoculum.

Based on the available experimental data for the structurally similar substances CAS 147-14-8 and CAS 12239-87-1 from the read-across approach it can be concluded that the substance (CAS 27614 -71 -7) is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
