Description of key information

The test was performed with a variable mixture of TGIC with cellulose. The mixture was compared to the mixture of an oxidizing substance with cellulose (Ba(NO3)2). Based on the results TGIC is not a oxidizing substance

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

TGIC was tested according to EU guideline A.17.

The average shortest burning time (50% cellulose/50% TGIC) was 205 seconds as compared to Ba(NO3)2 which showed a burning time of 150 seconds..

Thus TGIC had a longer burning time and stopped burning with a cellulose conc. of 20% or less.

Therefore, the criteria for classifying TGIC as oxidizing substance are not met.
