Description of key information

From an assessment of the chemical structure it was established that the test substance would not have explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

A package of physicochemical testing, including a determination of the explosive properties, was performed by Huntingdon Life Sciences, UK, to determine certain physicochemical properties of the test substance. The determination of explosive properties was conducted to EEC test method A14, and in accordance with GLP.

It was considered that the test substance was not explosive and therefore an assessment of this property was made using a theoretical consideration of its structure. From an examination of the chemical structure of the test substance, it was concluded that it contained no functional groups which are characteristic of explosive properties. It was therefore established that the test substance would not have explosive properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on an assessment of the chemical structure of the test substance, it was established that it would not have explosive properties. On this basis, the test substance should not be classified as explosive according to EC Directive 67/548/EEC.
