Description of key information

The test substance is thermal stable as no decomposition is observed below 150°C.

Additional information

Key study: SIK-Nr. 19201051, 1992

In the key study the test substance with the concentration of 40% which is commercial used was tested.

The thermal stability was determined by the Dynamic Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurement. The study is not GLP and guideline compliant but it is according to national standard DIN 51007.

3 measurements were conducted to determine the onset temperature/ peak temperature/ released energy

1. Measurement: 140°C/ 195°C/ 480 J/g

2. Measurement: 140°C/ 188°C/ 420 J/g

3. Measurement: 110°C/ 158°C/ 370 J/g

Supporting studies, 1988

Further (DSC) studies with  40%, 50% and 60% of the test substance were conducted.

The studies are not GLP and guideline compliant but according to the national standard DIN 51007.

The following results were obtained:

SIK-Nr. 91/0305

1. Reaction

Onset-temperature: 140 °C (exothermic)

Peak-temperature: 165 °C

Released energy: 570 J/g

SIK-Nr. 91/0306

1. Reaction

Onset-temperature: 130 °C (exothermic)

Peak-temperature: 180 °C

Released energy: 630 J/g

SIK-Nr. 91/0307

1. Reaction

Onset-temperature: 140 °C (exothermic)

Peak-temperature: 190 °C

Released energy: 690 J/g

SIK-Nr. 91/0758

1. Reaction

Onset-temperature: 110 °C (exothermic)

Peak-temperature: 165 °C

Released energy: 560 J/g

Conclusion

In the key and supporting DSC studies the peak-temperature for the test substance is > 150°C. Therefore, the test substance is considered to be stable at room temperature.
