Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2010-10-07 to 2010-10-11
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Test was performed with a dried residue of a concentrated solution. The substance (Nickel bis (dihydrogen phosphate) is stable in solution only.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
GLP compliance:
not specified
Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): Nickel bis (dihydrogen phosphate) dry residue of a concentrated solution
- Substance type: dry residue of a concentrated solution
- Physical state: solid
- Sample preparation: The sample was delivered as concentrated solution (about 40 %). In order to analyse the characteristics of a dried solution which was the purpose of this analysis) the sample was dried with a rotary drying unit under vacuum (50 mbar). During the drying process the liquid solution was turned to a dry salt. The distilled water contained no acidity. The dry residue was crushed with a rotary knife mill to a powder and the complete sample was sieved with a mesh size of 250 µm (recovery 100 %, residual moisture content 17 %).
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
> 400 °C
Remarks on result:
other: The substance does not ignite when heated up to 400 °C

Description of key information

The Self-Ignition Temperature for solids of Nickel bis (dihydrogen phosphate), EINECS 242-522-3 (dry residue of a concentrated solution) was determined according to the test method A. 16. as described in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008.

No self-ignition was observed up to a heating temperature of 400 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
