Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Conclusion on P / vP properties: vP (and P)

Bis(4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl) phenyl) amine is not readily biodegradable (20% degradation in 28 days) but is considered to be inherently biodegradable. Based on its chemical structure, which contains no hydrolysable groups the substance does not undergo hydrolysis. .Bis(4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl) phenyl) amine is therefore considered to be very Persistant (vP) based upon the information available.

Conclusion on B / vB properties: not B/vB

The BCF is calculated as 179.4 (Log Pow 2.254) and therefore does not meet the criteria for consideration as B or vB.

Conclusion on T properties: not T

No evidence of toxicity has been reported in any study on bis(4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl) phenyl) amine.

Likely routes of exposure:

The primary route of Bis(4 -(1,1,3,3 -tetramethylbutyl) phenyl) amine release will be to wastewater.

Bis(4 -(1,1,3,3 -tetramethylbutyl) phenyl) amine may be released to air through use processes, however, the vapour pressure is 0.000011 Pa at 25 ºC and therefore air exposure is expected to be negligible.

Release to soil may occur from spreading of STP sludge’s, however this is advised against.
